Elle Jae Essentials opening new location after online success
Thank you to Patch.com for their AHHHMAZING feature about our Upcoming Grand Opening! Read the feature here:
"Elle Jae Essentials — a Black-owned business offering homemade skin care and hair care products — will be celebrating the grand opening of its new location, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 4, at G 3037 Flushing Road in Flint.
The downtown Flint location of Elle Jae Essentials will feature products such as: Body Butters, Candles, Body Oils, Body Wash, Body Scrubs, and more. At the Sept. 4th grand opening, there will be free food, bounce houses for kids, free gifts, and an exclusive Grand Opening sale.
La'Asia Johnson — the founder and owner of Elle Jae Essentials — has previously focused most of her efforts on online sales, especially during the pandemic. She has mastered digital tools to advance her business through social media. Johnson is heavily reliant on Facebook and Instagram to spread word about her business, with 90 percent of her customers coming via social media.
Elle Jae Essentials has thrived in 2021, seeing 20 percent growth, so Johnson is parlaying that success into a 500 square-foot location to sell her popular skin and hair care products.
The origin of her business was Johnson's inability to find natural products to use, which led her to create her own skin care and hair care products for herself and family members. The business grew from there via word of mouth. Johnson saw a gap in the marketplace and filled it.
"I found out a lot of products were filled with toxins, so I started creating products for myself that were clean, safe and smelled good," Johnson said. "Through the use of online mixer events, a thriving Facebook discussion group of more than a thousand avid customers, and direct checkout on Instagram through the 'Shops' tool, sales went through the roof. We even sold our own hand sanitizer, which grew in popularity amid its scarcity due to COVID concerns."
Johnson said that in addition to continuing her successful digital and social media campaigns, she is looking forward to what can be done at the new location in Flint.
"As we celebrate the close of Black Business Month this August, I'm proud to be a young entrepreneur achieving success and grow with Elle Jae Essentials despite the challenges facing this country," Johnson said, "With our new physical location, we will be able to hold events to create custom fragrances, and also host private parties, community building events, and business mixers. The sky is the limit."
